About the Netherlands University Presses
Welcome to the portal of the Netherlands University Presses (NUPs), a consortium of progressive, open-access academic publishers. We represent a vibrant and cooperative network of university presses across the Netherlands, united by a shared commitment to democratising knowledge through diamond open access, where neither authors nor readers face financial barriers.
Our mission is to deliver high-quality scholarly and educational content that is freely accessible to everyone. In a world where access to knowledge is increasingly vital, we work to ensure that research and academic publications reach the broadest possible audience.
As a collaborative network, we aim to amplify the visibility and impact of our member presses. Together, we pursue joint initiatives such as developing a shared catalogue infrastructure, exploring a national open-access book platform, and collaborating on critical areas including dissemination and promotion, metadata management, various peer review processes, and innovative publishing models. We support projects that promote open textbooks, cutting-edge digital formats, and transparent academic publishing practices.
This website marks the beginning of our journey to create a central hub of information about our consortium, its member publishers, and the many projects we undertake together. Our goal is to help shape the future of open-access publishing in the Netherlands and beyond, ensuring that knowledge remains a public good, accessible to everyone.
Thank you for joining us in this mission!
